Thinking Big – Ndaba Ntsele, Pamodzi Investment Holdings (Endeavor Enterprise Learning Circle)

Ndaba Ntsele started out in business at the age of six selling fruit and peanuts and has worked for himself ever since. In 1979, Ndaba and two friends started a small property development interest, despite apartheid conditions of the era. He battled to raise funds locally – but became extremely successful in raising money offshore.

In 1993, Ndaba was awarded the Nike license in preparation for Nike’s reinvestment into South Africa. Ndaba and his team exceeded return on investment for three consecutive years before selling back the licensing business to Nike. In 1996, Ndaba established South Africa’s first diversified black-owned and black-controlled investment and private equity company – Pamodzi Investment Holdings (PIH). Since then, PIH has raised US$2.3 billion in equity and debt and invested in a portfolio of market leaders with a 37% growth rate. In 2007, Pamodzi raised Africa’s largest private equity fund valued at US$1.3 billion. The Pamodzi team is focused on developing the company into a US$800 million market capitalization firm in 2009.

For Ndaba, leadership is a continuous learning cycle of beliefs, attitudes and behaviors. He believes that before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself, but once you become a leader it is all about growing others.

With the written word suffering a slow and excruciating death, marketing expenses escalating more than ever and PR taking precedence as an effective medium to reach potentials. It makes sense to develop a podcast thereby making use of both online marketing and PR.

Saul Kropman, the brains and magician behind The Digital Edge podcast, will be speaking at the Netweb Event on how they use podcasting as a method of online marketing and PR. It is proving to be very affordable and highly effective, but more than anything it is scalable.
