Why don’t  implementations work?

i-Kno recognised that a over 50% of all software implementations fail for some reason or another. Whether this is seen as failure on the part of technology or whether these implementations simply are not being used, all contribute to the unsuccessful implementation of it solutions. Gerrit will be discussing the difference in culture between IT and users and what could be done to avoid the “digital divide”.

Gerrit van Dyk: MD of i-Kno Knowledge Solutions has 23 year experience within the IT field. Gerrit has been involved from the development of software to the implementation of various systems within both the private and government sector. He worked in the financial services industry for over 10 years where he gained a lot of insight into how people interact with technology. i-Kno specialises in the Knowledge Management domain and has various solutions in this field including ECM, intranets and BI solutions.

The Internet has given the individual user unprecedented power: the ability to join with other individuals and act as a unified, powerful and intelligent force. Masses of people have been using the net to come together to predict sport results, to solve complex mathematical problems and to help companies stay innovative and responsive to changing trends. Tools are springing up all over the web to help this process, and the positive effects are seen in every industry sector imaginable.
